I enjoyed your trip report on Kauai. My wife and I vacationed there in August of 1981 about a month before the big Hurricane came through. The tree tunnel was really something then. My sister in law visited there the following February and the trees where totally topped. From your picture it looks like they are growing back bu it could be another 10-30 years before they fully cover the road again.
We also enjoyed eating at the roach coaches that were around the island both in 1981 and in 1990 when we went back to Oaho and Maui. We still favor Kauai but want to visit Molokai someday.
