I just got back from Killington, Vermont and thought I would share my experience. This was the first time I was ever there and the first time I was ever on skis.
My friend Dawn and I booked a trip through a company called Tours de Sport who claim to have the best prices on ski packages... I've never been skiing before so I don't know how there prices compare.
We stayed at a condo complex called Fall Line. It was absolutely beautiful and convenient. Our unit was a one bedroom with a kitchen, dining area, living room complete with fireplace {and they provide the wood and starters}, bedroom (although the bed was not too comfortable), and a nice bathroom complete with hot tub!!! The condo had a tv and vcr as well (we decided to bring up our own videos for evening entertainment). It also came with a washer/dryer and dishwasher with detergent....
As for convenience... there was complimentary bus service to the lodge and mountain. It was free all day until 5 and then $1 after that.
Friends had told me that eating out and shopping in Killington is quite expensive so we chose the condo so we could bring up our own food and cook it in the kitchen to cut costs.... That worked out great, although we did splurge and go out one night.
We tried the Santa Fe Steak House. Yes, it was a bit on the expensive side but the people were really friendly and the food was great. Dawn had a Filet Mignon (on a bone--we are still questioning that) and I had Roasted Crispy Maple Chicken.... DELICIOUS!!!!
The package also included ski lessons, rentals, and lift tickets. The company was called "The Perfect Turn". The instructors were very nice.
I guess since it was a holiday weekend it was very crowded. But we had alot of fun.
